Conference Presentations

The VIVACE Team has made many conference presentations both on individual partner’s sub-projects and on the project as a whole.  Here is a selection of presentations given in English, presented in broadly chronological order.

- Presentations on Partner sub-projects

Each partner in the VIVACE team has developed and delivered up to six sub-projects.  These presentations describe some of them in more detail.  For more information on all the sub-projects in VIVACE and ALLEGRO please consult the VIVACE & ALLEGRO Database.

  • Independence Day, 4 July 2007 (UK)  The first VIVACE sub-project in the UK was a taster event; the presentation illustrates the preparation, delivery and outcomes of this sub-project.  This presentation was also used as a training tool at the second VIVACE Partners’ Meeting held at the University of Castilla la Mancha, Cuenca, Spain in September 2007.
  • Emsenic presentation, March 2008 (CZ) The University of South Bohemia, the Czech partner in VIVACE, delivered its first sub-project in December 2007.  This presentation describes the details of this sub-project, developed in collaboration with Arpida, and includes an evaluation of the outcomes.
  • Cotmanhay Cobras Fun Day, January 2009 (UK).  This VIVACE follow-up sub-project was developed in the UK in direct response to feedback from VIVACE’s participation in Independence Day, 4 July 2007.  The presentation is in the form of the less on plan for the sub-p roject.
  • Empatie presentation, (CZ).  This presentation covers the role of the University of Southern Bohemia, the Czech partner in VIVACE, in designing and delivering the second VIVACE sub-project in the Czech Republic.  It includes a number of photographs taken during the sub-project activity.
  • VIVACE Romania, June 2009 (RO)EuroEd, the Romanian partner in VIVACE, presented on the three sub-projects delivered in Romania to an international audience at the Creativity and Innovation for Promoting Multilingualism and Intercultural Dialogue conference held at EuroEd in June 2009.  This presentation sets the three sub-projects in the context of VIVACE aims and objectives as applicable to socio-economic conditions in Romania.

- Project presentations

A core team of VIVACE partners has made presentations on the project as a whole, reflecting on the aims, objectives and lessons learned, and illustrated with examples drawn from VIVACE sub-projects.  These include:

  • Language World, University of Leicester, April 2009Language World is the UK’s foremost annual conference for members of the language teaching profession; it regularly attracts in excess of 600 delegates from primary, secondary and tertiary education both from the UK and from other European countries.  This presentation, given by the VIVACE partner in the Czech Republic and one of her undergraduate students, attracted a large audience and was rated by some delegates as “the best session in the conference”. The presentation combines a description of the VIVACE ethos and approach with examples of activities drawn from one of the Czech VIVACE sub-projects.
  • VIVACE IATEFL Hungary, Budapest, October 2009.  At the conclusion of the final partners’ meeting in Budapest in September 2009, all VIVACE partners attended the IATEFL Hungary conference and made a presentation, primarily aimed at teachers, on the scope of the project, illustrated by examples drawn from sub-projects developed by all partners.  The presentation was also attended by representatives of the Hungarian National Institution for Blind People, one of the organisations VIVACE partners in Hungary worked with to develop and deliver a sub-project.
  • London Language Show, London, November 2009. The London Language Show is a premier three-day event which attracts very large numbers of exhibitors, participants and visitors from the UK and from all across Europe.  This comprehensive and detailed presentation, given by VIVACE partners from the UK and Slovenia, describes the work of VIVACE, links with the experience gained from ALLEGRO, and sets the aims, objectives and experience gained from the project in the broader context of European policies for language learning and for social inclusion.

VIVACE Partners have also jointly authored a short article on the VIVACE project, A Helping Hand, published in Languages Today, Autumn 2009, available to download here.
