ANDRAGOŠKI CENTER REPUBLIKE SLOVENIJE


Since its foundation in 1991, the Institute takes the leading role in research and development, education and guidance as well as information and promotional work in this field.

In cooperation with and in support to networks comprising of about 300 adult education public and private institutions as well as NGOs, SIAE has been working on the development of non-formal education and learning, adult literacy programmes and access to education and learning for marginalised target groups, adult education information and guidance, quality in adult education, training and professional development of adult educators, promotion of lifelong learning (Lifelong Learning Week) and many other areas.

The Institute provides professional support to the Ministry of Education and Sport regarding the development of the adult education system and carries out or takes part in domestic and international research projects.

Outcomes and experiences stemming from the Institute’s activities are subject to examination and mutual exchange in meetings with domestic and foreign experts with the aim to enrich each other and contribute to the development of their professional field as well as their wider social environment.

Expertise & Experience

FIELDS OF WORK:

Development of the adult education (AE) system:

  • expert analyses,
  • research,
  • evaluation studies providing expert grounds for the development of the AE system;

Development of quality in AE:

  • development of approaches to self-evaluation and external evaluation,
  • counselling and training of people responsible for the development of quality,
  • providing related professional literature;


Information and guidance in AE:

  • providing guidance to individuals and institutions,
  • developing and monitoring guidance centres (IGAE project),
  • guidance corner,
  • database of publicly valid AE programmes;

Adult education training:

  • devising and implementing training programmes for work in adult education and for supporting the implementation of development projects in practice,
  • development of teaching materials and new approaches to training;

Adult literacy:

  • research,
  • development of literacy programmes for different target groups (family, rural, workplace, people with special needs),
  • training of literacy teachers;

Development of non-formal learning:

  • study circles,
  • reading circles,
  • learning exchange,
  • self-directed learning,
  • project learning for young adults,
  • lifelong learning centres;

Validation of non-formal learning:

  • portfolio,
  • e-portfolio,
  • APL,
  • training of counsellors and evaluators;

Promotional activities:

  • promotional campaigns and events – Lifelong Learning Week,
  • awards for outstanding learning achievements,
  • Adult Education Colloquium,
  • bulletin Novičke, series of professional literature, monographs, video and multimedia publications,
