Project Background

Funded under Socrates LINGUA 1 from 2006-2009, VIVACE is a partnership of eight EU partners representing organisations in seven EU member states.  The central focus of the project lies in raising the awareness of the value and scope for personal enrichment of learning a foreign language among individuals and groups who have been previously excluded from language learning opportunities for reasons of personal, social or economic disadvantage.  The individuals and groups the VIVACE partners have worked with generally find themselves in precarious or vulnerable life situations and in conditions of exclusion from many aspects of mainstream society.
